“I welcome the positive tone of the BPF’s response to the launch of the Fighting Back With Facts campaign. As their recent press release indicates, the Chairman of the BPF’s Windows Group’s Marketing Committee, Jon Skinner, raised the possibility of working with us. I appreciate Jon’s offer and would be interested to hear what he has in mind.

Crucially, however, we must not forget the need to involve installers in this process. The BPF press release talks about fabricators and systems companies but makes no reference to installers.

I agree with Jon’s comments that “our message will be more powerful if it is delivered by one voice”. However, this one voice must represent all sections of the industry. At the moment, it is dominated by systems companies. It includes some fabricators (although not in any real numbers) but it doesn’t include installers.

I want to change this. I believe that if one voice is to speak with real authority on behalf of the PVC-U industry, then installers and fabricators need to be involved. Most of the companies in this market are either fabricators or installers. Until now they haven’t been involved, which is one of the reasons why the “one voice” is struggling to be heard.

Our campaign is much more than “one company acting by itself” as Jon suggests. Fighting Back With Facts (http://www.FightingBackWithFacts.com) is less than one week old but already it has attracted considerable support and interest.

Installers and fabricators have a vital role to play in promoting PVC-U. The more that are involved in the Fighting Back With Facts Campaign, the more prosperous and healthy our industry will be.”
